about
For the past two years I have been working on this song which came about from a pretty severe heartbreak. It was the first time I ever really felt a connection to someone and I gave everything of me to them, but it was never returned. I remember the night in which I wrote the song still so vividly in my mind, it was a January evening. I was living in a small studio apartment in Coburg North and I had just gotten off from a phone call and the lyric came into my head as the tears streamed down my face “you’re playing your game, through you telling me ‘bout this girl you see, but can’t you see it’s hurting me”. It was the night I finally realised it was all over. I start there staring for a solid few minutes and got my notebook out, strummed a few chords and before I knew it…Catching Fireflies was born.
lyrics
You try it on
I see why
Pushing me on the outside
You are terrified of what you
Feel inside
I can see it
Can't you just breathe it?
In my dreams
We catch our, lullabies
But when I open my eyes
No more, no more
Catching Fireflies
I spy you
You want me too
I just know
You're playing your game
Through you telling me
Bout this girl you see
But can't you see?
Its hurting me
In my dreams
We catch our
Lullabies
I just don't want to open my eyes
Cause you see
That it means
There is no more
No more, no more
No more, no more
Catching, having
Catching, laughing
Catching, catching
Catching Fireflies
